Beavers battle in four-set loss at Earlham

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Bluffton University volleyball team gave HCAC-leading Earlham College all it wanted in a four-set loss to the Quakers on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025. Bluffton fell to 12-15 overall and 1-3 in the Heartland, while Earlham improved to 16-6 and 4-0 in the conference.

Bluffton led the opening set 18-11 and then held on to post a 27-25 victory in the lidlifter. The visitors used a strong serving game to build their lead as they kept Earlham off balance en route to taking the first set.

A 5-0 start for the Quakers proved to be the difference as Earlham evened the match with a 25-20 victory before rolling to a 25-15 win in set three. The home team led 21-16 before Bluffton knotted set four at 23 points apiece. However, back-to-back hitting errors by the Beavers allowed Earlham to wrap up its 3-1 victory.

Senior Jenna Woods (DeGraff/Riverside) and junior Kasey Sager (Troy) led the way with 13 hammers apiece. Gabby Williams (West Liberty/West Liberty-Salem) dished out 26 helpers. Emma Organ (Lambertville, MI/St. Ursula Academy) scooped up 22 digs while firing three service aces. Sager was in on a team-best six blocks and Paige Massie (Alvada/Arcadia) added three block assists.

Bluffton is back in the Sommer Center for the third straight Saturday when Mount St. Joseph brings its spotless 4-0 HCAC mark to town on October 25. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
