GRANVILLE, Ohio - The Beavers hit the road to Granville for the Denison Lid Lifter and built on the baseline that they established last weekend at Transylvania.
In the throws, senior Coen North (Denver, Col./North) took home the javelin win with a toss of 56.28 meters. The freshmen duo of Jose Garcia (Deshler/Leipsic) and Tony Smith (Toledo/Sylvania Southview) both saw PR's in discus with tosses of 33.58 and 33.14, respectively. Garcia improved his mark in shot with a 10.70-meter throw. Freshman Bryson Taylor (New Orleans, La./Abramson Tech Charter) also improved his mark with a toss of 10.95 meters.
In the jumps, the Beavers put two on the podium in long jump with freshmen Demari Bailey (Hiram, Ga.) who finished runner-up with a mark of 5.99 meters, and senior Nolan Mills (Louisville, KY/Meade County) who finished 3rd in his debut with a jump of 5.94 meters.
In the sprints, sophomores Hassan Greene (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Snyder) and Delainta Crawford (Douglasville, Ga./Lithia Springs) finished neck and neck with each other, and both saw PR's with times of 54.13 and 54.44 in the 400 meterrs, respectively. Freshman Jaden Ngufor (London, Ont.) also had a PR in the 400 with a time of 1:01.33. In the 200, Crawford saw a PR with a time of 24.11 as well as junior Mathias Garcia (Fort Wayne, Ind./New Haven) with a time of 24.58. Freshman Quince Reese (Killeen, Texas/Ellison) had a PR in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:00.45.
In the distance events, sophomore Malcolm Hudson (Villa Rica, Ga.) ran a gutsy 800 and came out of the event with a new PR of 2:15.45
On the women's side, sophomore Sara Smith (Mansfield/Madison Comprehensive) led the way with a 3rd place finish in the 5k with a PR of 18.52.52. Fellow sophomore Kamryn McDonald (Marion/Harding) made a huge drop in the 5k from last week, running over a minute faster with a time of 23.45.44. Freshman Katie Garrison (Caledonia/River Valley) also had a PR in the 1500 with a time of 6:36.24.
In the throws, senior Ella Myers (McClure/Patrick Henry) had a top 5 finish in her javelin debut with a toss of 25.10 meters. She also matched her PR in shot put with a toss of 7.74 meters. Freshman Gabrielle Taylor (Sandusky) improved her shot-put mark with a toss of 7.65 meters and had a 2 meter PR in the discus with a toss of 21.77 meters.
In the jumps, junior Amelia Adams (Celina) cleared 1.46 meters in high jump and 2.68 meters in pole vault which qualified her for conference in that event.
Junior Sharon Keefer (Plain City/Jonathan Alder) made her 400-meter debut and finished with a time of 1:09.05 and had a PR in the 200 with a time of 30.07.
The Beavers will be back in action next weekend as they will head down to Ohio Wesleyan for the Marv Frye Invitational on Saturday, April 4.
