Bluffton battles Hiram at Lima YMCA

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University swimming and diving team battled Hiram College at the Lima YMCA on Friday, Oct. 18. The women came up just eight points short of the Terriers thanks to some standout performances from freshman Jami Baker (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) who notched three victories against the Terriers!

Baker dominated the freestyle events, winning the 200 yard (2:12.26) and the 500 yard (6:05.55) which was a school record time. She also won the 200 yard butterfly with a school-record 2:46.20!

Sydney Grisier (Bryan) was also victorious on Friday night, winning the 1-meter diving championship. She established a new school record in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 15:32.52.

On the men's side, freshman Justin Hassranah (Cunupia, Trinidad and Tobago/Vishnu Boys Hindu College) won the 200 yard backstroke and just missed the school record with a time of 2:22.95. He also moved into 4th all-time with a 24.32 in the 50-yard freestyle.

Landon Gardner (Whitehall, Mich./Grand Haven) moved into second all-time with a 2:32.63 in the 200 yard IM.

Bluffton will host its third straight meet at the Lima YMCA with Hanover and Manchester coming to town on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m.
