Beavers ready to build on historic season

BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Bluffton Beavers women's golf squad is coming off an amazing 2024-25 season where they notched six top-two finishes as a team, including first-place finishes at the HCAC Fall Preview and the That's Spring Golf in Northwest Ohio. Last season capped off the careers of two outstanding women, with Kiley Cline and Allie Waggener finishing their time at Bluffton and cementing themselves in the record book as the top two female golfers in Bluffton history!

Kiley Cline went out with the lowest career average in Beaver history and she scored six of the nine lowest 18-hole rounds in program history. Allie Waggener exits (kind of) with the fourth-lowest career average and the second-lowest season average in the history of the program. The two will be missed, but they have made lasting impacts, both on and off the course. Waggener will have the opportunity to add to her impact as the assistant coach for both the men and the women the next two seasons!

Coming into his first full season leading the program, Ryan Turner takes over with several core players returning. Back is Hope Manning (South Charleston/Southeastern), who sits second all-time in career scoring average with 84.75. The junior is coming off a 2024-25 campaign where she had three top-10 finishes that included her best finish at the Beaver Fall Classic where she placed 8th with scores of 80 and 85.

Joining Manning is fellow junior Alyssa Begoon (New Madison/Tri-Village), who is coming off her sophomore season with an average round of 94.15, a four-stroke improvement from her freshman campaign. She continues to gain experience, with two top-20 finishes, including a 13th-place showing at the Earlham Spring Invitation with scores of 94 and 92. Also returning is junior Gabby Green (Beavercreek/Carroll), who averaged 93.60 in eight appearances last season. Improving from a 96.23 average in her first year, Green is coming off a season where she netted four top-25 finishes, including a 15th place finish at the MSJ Stateline Shootout with back-to-back rounds of 89.

Sophomores Keylee Goerss (Hamilton/Talawanda), who shot a season-low 85 at Heidelberg, and Kendall Van Horn (Wharton/Upper Sandusky) gained valuable experience during their first season of collegiate golf.

The Bluffton women will tee it up at the ONU Polar Bear Invitational in a two-day event that starts on Sunday, Aug. 31. Five weeks later, as part of the Homecoming Weekend festivities, the men and women will host the Beaver Fall Classic at Bluffton Golf Club on Saturday, Oct. 4, and Sunday, Oct. 5. The fall session comes to a close on October 11-12 when the Beavers head to the Anderson Country Club for the HCAC Preview, hosted by Anderson University.
