GENEVA, Ohio - Senior Desmond Gist (Detroit, Mich./Trenton) finished off a storied career for the Purple and White on Saturday, May 24, finishing 5th in the nation in the 110 Hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He equaled his best finish at the national meet and earned First-Team All-American honors with his best race of 14:24, re-setting his own school record one last time!
It marked the 2nd time Des has earned First Team All-America honors and he became just the second athlete in program history to earn First-Team All-American honors multiple times, joining program legend Terrill Webb (pole vault).
This wraps up one of the best track and field careers in Bluffton University history. Desmond ends his career with a program-record five national qualifications, including four times during the outdoor season. He also has the highest finish at the outdoor championships for the men's program and the second-highest finish ever for Bluffton with two fifth-place finishes!
