Bluffton tunes up for HCAC at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Bluffton University Swim and Dive Team traveled to Franklin, Ind., to compete against Franklin College on Saturday, Jan. 31. The Beavers put up a tough fight and achieved some successes in the pool.  
Senior Sydney Grisier (Bryan) had some notable performances. Grisier competed in the 1-meter diving, placing 3rd with a score of 166.95 which is 2nd-all time in the record books. Grisier also competed in the 3-meter diving, where she placed 3rd with a score of 153.75. That puts her at the top of the record books, smashing her own record!
 
Sophomore Jami Baker (Lowell, Ind.) delivered exceptional results throughout the meet. Baker competed in the 200-yard IM, placing 5th with a time of 2:33.42. Baker's final event for the afternoon was the 500-yard freestyle, placing 3rd with a time of 6:09.78. That puts her 4th all-time in the record book.
 
Junior Juliana Brooks (Canton/McKinley) put together an impressive showing from start to finish. Her 50-yard freestyle was good for 4th with a time of 32.50. Brooks last race was the 100-yard backstroke, again placing 4th with a time of 1:25.33.  
 
Senior Riley Bruns (Maria Stein/Marion Local) gave his all with an outstanding finish in the 50-yard freestyle, placing 4th with a time of 26.26.
 
Bluffton Swim and Dive travels to Rose-Hulman on Wednesday, Feb. 11, for their annual 4-day Heartland Conference meet. Good luck Beavers!
