The Bluffton University swimming and diving team traveled to Berea on Saturday, Jan. 11, to compete against Baldwin Wallace University and Heidelberg University. All swimmers had notable performances.
Senior Sydney Grisier (Bryan) had an amazing completion in all of her events. She placed 5th in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 16.13.99. Grisier also competed in both 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. She placed 4th in the 1-meter with a score of 140.55. Grisier also placed 4th in the 3-meter with a score of 131.70, which puts her 4th all-time in the record book!
Sophomore Jami Baker (Lowell, Ind.) had an outstanding performance all around with some personal bests thrown into the mix. Baker competed in the 50-yard free, placing 2nd with a seasonal best time of 27.37. She also competed in the 100-yard backstroke, placing 2nd with a personal best time of 1:07.71. That puts her 3rd all-time in the record books! Baker finished off with the 100-yard breaststroke, placing 3rd with a time of 1:17.26.
Junior Juliana Brooks (Canton/McKinley) had a great performance in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 32.15!
Sophomore Landon Gardner (Whitehall, Mich./Grand Haven) gave his all in all of his events, finishing with excellent results. Gardner competed in the 50-yard freestyle, getting a time of 25.72. He also competed in the 100-yard backstroke, placing 2nd with a time of 1:13.24. His final event of the afternoon was the 100-yard breaststroke, in which he placed 3rd with a time of 1:19.97.
Senior Riley Bruns (Maria Stein/Marion Local) was in the pool for the first time this season after coming back from an injury. Bruns competed in the 50-yard freestyle, getting a seasonal best time of 25.70!
The Beavers return to the pool when they travel to Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio, on Saturday, January 17. Go Beavers!
