ALMA, Mich. - The Bluffton Beavers men's soccer squad hit the road and traveled north to face off against the Alma Scots. After a quiet first half, a chaotic second half would find the home team coming out with a victory on their home field, handing the Beavers a 3-1 loss. With the defeat, Bluffton will fall to 1-3-1 on the 2025 campaign, while Alma improves to an overall record of 3-1-1.
Both teams were relatively quiet in the first half, with neither team letting up defensively as each offense only mustered up three shots a piece in the first 45 minutes. The hosts would get the ball rolling though in the 53rd minute after a goal put them on the board with a 1-0 lead. Alma wouldn't be done as they would score back-to-back goals just seven minutes apart, extending their lead to 3-0. The Beavers refused to let in, as William Clark (Mount Blanchard, Ohio / Riverdale) fired a strike into the back of the net, to cut the deficit to 3-1. Despite the late goal, Bluffton would be unable to mount a comeback as they would fall in a final score of 3-1, giving them their third loss of the season.
Leading the visitors in shots was William Clark, who tallied four total on the day, with two shots being in frame that included the Beavers lone goal as well Also contribuing for Bluffton was Alex Brown (Delaware, Ohio / Buckeye Valley), who had two shots on goal in the contest. As a team, the Beavers were outshot 16-11, but were even in total shots on goal with both teams recording eight.
Bluffton will put this loss in their rearview mirror as they return home and have their eyes set to face off against Wilmington (OH) on Alumni Field in a night game that kicks off at 7 p.m.
