Bluffton stands 8th after day one at Olivet

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Bluffton University men's golf team kicked off its 2024 campaign with a solid 324 at the Lou Collins Memorial Tournament. Battling a talented field that included MIAA heavyweights Trine and Kalamazoo, the Beavers stand eighth, tied with the host Olivet Comets. Interim Head Coach Clay Quellhorst was in his first tournament since taking over.

Freshman Jack Wyant (Mansfield/Lexington) led the Beavers with a 77 on Friday, Aug. 30. Three strokes back was junior Noah Macke (Columbus Grove) who carded an 80.

Drake Sommer (Montpelier) followed with an 83, while sophomore Carson Brubaker (Shelby) and Jackson Eichler (Atwater/Waterloo) rounded out the scoring with a pair of 84's.

Bluffton will tee it up for day two at the Bedford Valley Golf Club on Saturday, Aug. 31.
