Beavers loaded heading into 2022-23 season

The Bluffton University men's golf team returns a deep and experienced squad that had a record-setting 2021-22 campaign. Head Coach Adam Craig led the Beavers to their first tournament victory at the 2021 Beaver Fall Classic while firing a school-record 605 at the Bluffton Golf Club.

2021 seniors Dominic Castelvetere (Ontario), Spencer Daniels (Ashland) and Nick Offenburger (Lexington) are all coming back thanks to an extra year of eligibility due to COVID-19. Castelvetere (80.21) and Daniels (81.68) were both in the top five scorers last season with Castelvetere number two for the Beavers.

Also back for their final season at Bluffton are 2023 seniors Clay Quellhorst (St. Marys/Memorial), Nathan Eberle (Grove City), Evan Kujawa (Toledo/Whitmer) and Justin Metsker (Burbank/Wickliffe). Quellhorst led the Beavers with a 79.54 scoring average. Eberle was third, shooting 80.42 for the season.

Junior Brady Johnston (Delphos/Jefferson) got his feet wet at the Beaver Invite in 2021, while sophomores Hunter Jolliff (Elida) and Brayden Tosi (Springfield/Kenton Ridge) both saw extensive tournament action as freshman. Jolliff was a regular in the lineup, shooting 81.76 for the year, and less than one stroke off that pace was Tosi who checked in with an 82.42 for the year.

Bluffton smashed its 18-hole school record with a 302 at the Beaver Fall Classic and followed that up with a 303 en route to a playoff victory over regional-power Ohio Northern. The 605 shattered Bluffton's 36-hole record, shaving 18 strokes off the previous mark!

Eberle and Castelvetere both went under the previous individual 36-hole record with a 149 and 150, respectively, while Kujawa's 151 equaled the school mark that he previously shared with Quellhorst. Eberle shot Bluffton's best round (70) since hoops legend Scott Bergman carded a 69 in 2004.

The Beavers open their 2022-23 slate with a trip to Olivet on September 2 before the HCAC Preview at Hanover one week later. They will also travel to Allegheny College and Defiance before wrapping up their fall slate at the Bluffton Invite on October 15-16.
