BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University ace Riley Reyna (Wellington) has been named 2nd Team All-Heartland Conference after a dominant campaign for the junior. Also recognized by the HCAC coaches was sophomore Tyler Forest (Harrison/LaSalle) who earned Honorable Mention Heartland Conference.
Reyna tossed 56 innings and led the Beavers with 56 strikeouts, fanning 9.0 batters per game. He started 10 games and limited the opponents to a paltry .266 batting average. Reyna went 1-3 with a 4.98 ERA while facing the top starter for each team he matched up against.
The outstanding junior is tied for 7th all-time with a .271 career opponent batting average and 13th all-time with 7.11 strikeouts per nine innings. His 30 starts is tied for 8th all-time. Reyna has amassed 130 strikeouts through three years (8th all-time) and his 173.1 innings pitched are 12th on the career list.
Forest started 30 of the 33 games that he played in. His .372 batting average was tops for everyone with more than 35 at bats. He drove in 19 runs and led the Beavers with seven doubles and three triples. His 28 runs scored were second on the team as were his nine stolen bases. Forest topped the Beavers with a .473 slugging percentage and he also finished second with a .460 on-base percentage thanks to 15 walks.
