ADRIAN, Mich. - The Bluffton Beavers would hit the road and head north, going up against the Albion Britons before heading into conference play. A strong start for the home team would be the difference as Albion would come away with a 13-1 win over the Beavers. With the loss, Bluffton drops to 5-7 as they head into the start of conference play.
The Britons bats would get hot right out of the gate, scoring 10 runs in the first before adding another run in the second as they would go up 11-0 on the Beavers. Following a scoreless third inning, Bluffton would get on the board in the fourth after a sacrifice fly from Xander Greulich (Pemberville, Ohio / Eastwood) scored Tyler Forest (Harrison, Ohio / LaSalle) as they cut the deficit to 11-1. Albion would respond with a run in the bottom of the inning before adding another run in the fifth, extending their lead to 13-1. After scoreless sixth and seventh innings, Albion would score a pair in the eighth to go up 15-1. Bluffton couldn't get the bats going as they would fall in a final score of 15-1.
Albion was dominant at the plate, smacking a staggering 20 hits while Bluffton only mustered up five hits in the contest. Leading the way for the Beavers was Sam Archambeau (Maumee) who would tally two hits in three at bats, with Tyler Forest finished 1-for-3 and recording the lone run for the visitors.
Nathan Waggoner (Brookville) picks up the loss on the hill to fall to 0-1 on the season after allowing eight runs off seven hits in just .2 innings. In relief, Travis Rooney (Thompson, Pa. / Susquehanna) would go one inning and allow just one hit while Alexander James (Vandalia, Ohio / Butler) would come in and strike out a pair in one inning as well.
The Beavers will continue their road trip as they travel to Transylvania in their first HCAC contest of the season, with the first pitch set to be thrown at noon.
