Bluffton falls to Concordia-Moorhead in offensive battle, 13-10

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Bluffton Beavers continued their trip in Florida at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational, going up against the Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers in a game where both teams offenses flourished. In the end, the Cobbers would be able to score more runs as they handed the Beavers a 13-10 loss, moving Bluffton to a record of 2-4 on the season. 

Concordia-Moorhead would get things going in the first, scoring three runs and holding the Bluffton offense to three scoreless frames as they went into the fourth with a 3-0 lead. In the top of the fourth, Bluffton would erupt with five RBI singles and a two-run double as they would head into the bottom of the inning with a 7-3 lead. The Cobbers would cut the Beavers lead down to three after adding a run in the fourth, but following a five run frame in the fifth, Bluffton would find themselves down 10-7. In the sixth, Sam Archambeau (Maumee, Ohio / Maumee/Albion College) would get things going with an RBI single to left, bringing the Beavers within two. After scoring runs off a hit by pitch and a wild pitch in the top of the sixth, Bluffton would find themselves evened up with Concordia-Moorhead 10-10. The tied game would be short lived as the Cobbers would retake the lead in the bottom of the inning after batting in runs off a single, a walk, and a single put them ahead 13-10. The Beavers would get runners on base in the final three frames, but would be unable to bring home any runs as they would fall 13-10 to Concordia-Moorhead. 

Despite the loss, the Bluffton offense was feeling it at the plate, smacking a season-high 15 hits and drawing nine walks. Leading the Beavers at the plate, going 3-for-6 with two RBIs and two runs was Xander Greulich (Pemberville, Ohio / Eastwood), followed by Sam Archambeau who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Also connecting for three hits was Drew Snipes (Pickerington, Ohio / North) and Billy Ramsey (Fairfield), with Ramsey tallying two runs and Snipes recording an RBI. The Beavers did have a number of missed opportunities, leaving 16 runners on base. 

Grant Caldwell (Pataskala, Ohio / Licking Heights) takes the loss in the contest, allowing four earned runs off six hits in just one inning of work, falling to 0-2 to start the 2026 campaign. Starting the contest was AJ Remick (Orient, Ohio / Grove City), who went four innings, allowing five runs off nine hits, while striking out three. Coming in for two innings of relief, was Colin Russ (North Olmstead, Ohio / Cuyahoga CC) who allowed only one hit and fanned four batters. 

Bluffton will look to put this loss in their rearview mirror as they kick right back into action on Thursday, Mar. 5 when they face off against the Calvin University Knights in a double header, starting at 2 p.m.
