BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University Men's Soccer Team was back on the Alumni Field turf for the second time in five days when the Beavers hosted Ohio Christian University on a comfortable Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018. Ohio Christian hit paydirt with just over five minutes to play in overtime period one for a 2-1 victory. The Beavers dipped to 1-4, while OCU evened its season mark at 3-3.
With Ohio Christian leading 1-0 early in period two, Alex Foster (Howard, Ohio/Mount Vernon) slid a pass to fellow sophomore Christian Zapata (Livonia, MI/Adlai E. Stevenson) down the left sideline and Zapata found a freed up Dalton Taynor (Troy, Ohio/Miami East) in front of the goal for the equalizer, making it 1-1 at the 57:26 mark. The Beavers kept the pressure up throughout the second half, but Ohio Christian's Kyle Luneke connected midway through the first extra session for a 2-1 win.
Taynor paced the Bluffton offense with six shots, including three on frame. Fellow freshman Hunter Fleck (Orrville, Ohio) turned away six Trailblazer shots.
Bluffton is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 15, when the Beavers travel to Angola, Ind., for a 2 p.m. matchup at Trine University.
